The Westlink on-demand transport service covers the rural area around Thornbury, extending to the river Severn in the west and the M5 in the east. To the north you can travel as far as Falfield, while in the south, shared zones allow you to travel to Severn Beach, Easter Compton and Cribbs Causeway. You can also travel to UWE and Southmead Hospital. The map above illustrates the zone – you can start or end your journey anywhere in the red or grey areas.

Buses normally run between 7am and 7pm Monday – Saturday, with no service on Sundays.

Westlink journeys can be booked up to 24 hours in advance of your planned journey, using their app, website or by phone on 0117 457 8561.

Car-sharing scheme

If you are interested in sharing car journeys with other people, either on a regular basis or for a one-off event, have a look at the website for the local car-sharing scheme.  This is a well-established initiative, delivered in partnership with four local authorities: Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol City, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.  Some large employers in our area (hospital trusts, councils, universities, the Mall at Cribbs Causeway etc) already belong to the scheme.  But individuals can join too – for free!

You can find out how and where the scheme operates, which employers belong to it, how to register for free as an individual or as the employee of a member organisation and what to bear in mind when you are making travel arrangements.

Do you have difficulty getting to the shops, your GP’s surgery, medical appointments or social events?

4 Towns and Vale Link community transport scheme can help you get out and about, with their accessible, door-to-door vehicles.   You don’t have to be stuck at home any longer.

All you need to do to use their service is complete a form and pay a registratiion fee.   You can find out more here.
